General Description
Exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and entrepreneurial company building infrastructure to support the energy industry of the future! We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented EPC Planner/Scheduler(s)to join our team, responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules for large scale Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects supporting the power and technology markets. The Planner/Scheduler will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure timely execution of project milestones while identifying potential delays and proposing mitigation strategies. This role is critical to delivering projects on time, within scope, and on budget.
Duties
- Develop baseline project schedules using scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) based on project scope, work breakdown structure (WBS), and resource availability.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather input on task durations, dependencies, and sequencing.
- Track project progress by updating schedules with actual data, including completed tasks, delays, and changes in scope or resources.
- Identify critical path activities and potential bottlenecks, providing recommendations to optimize schedules and mitigate risks.
- Generate schedule reports (e.g., Gantt charts, progress curves, lookahead schedules) for internal teams, management, and clients.
- Monitor procurement timelines for equipment and materials, ensuring alignment with construction and commissioning phases.
- Analyze schedule variances, delays, or accelerations, and propose recovery plans to keep projects on track.
- Participate in project planning meetings to align schedules with budgets, manpower, and equipment availability.
- Maintain a comprehensive schedule database, including historical data, to support future project planning and estimation.
- Ensure compliance with contractual milestones, deliverables, and client reporting requirements.
- Assist in resource planning by forecasting labor, equipment, and material needs based on schedule demands.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field experience (or equivalent experience).
- 5-10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, ideally within EPC projects in industries such as power generation, technology, , or heavy industrial construction.
- Proficiency in scheduling software, such as Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project, with a strong understanding of critical path methodology (CPM).
- Familiarity with EPC project phases (engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning) and their interdependencies.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret technical plans, specifications, and contracts.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams, including engineers, contractors, and senior management.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and proactive problem-solving.
- Certification in project management or scheduling (e.g., PMI-SP, PSP by AACE) is a plus.
- Experience with EPC projects in power generation (e.g., thermal plants, renewable energy, or transmission systems).
- Knowledge of earned value management (EVM) and its integration with scheduling.
- Familiarity with cost control principles and linking schedules to budgets.
- Collaborative and dynamic environment requiring adaptability to evolving project needs.
