Job Description – Safety Coordinator
General Description: The Safety Coordinator supports the Safety Lead in managing the overall safety and health for each project assigned. This position assists in overseeing the subcontractor and vendor on-site personnel from a safety perspective, including any safety representatives assigned to their projects. The Safety Coordinator works closely with the designated Project Manager, Construction Manager, and Safety Lead to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Duties:
  • Assists in leading project safety and health initiatives for each project assigned.
  • Supports the oversight of subcontractor and vendor on-site personnel from a safety perspective.
  • Proactively assists and supports crew members to achieve a safe work environment.
  • Participates in weekly safety meetings with all personnel on projects.
  • Conducts daily project safety audits in coordination with the Safety Lead and QISG Safety Director.
  • Communicates with customer safety representatives as required.
  • Assists in conducting safety onboarding training for new crew members.
  • Supports accident and incident investigations as required.
  • Reviews and understands all project-specific safety requirements, customer safety requirements, and QISG safety requirements.
  • Assists in reviewing subcontractor safety plans as necessary.
  • Helps create and update safety plans as required.
  • Ensures proper reporting is obtained from subcontractors (job hazard analyses (JHA’s), tailboards, etc.).
  • Manages project roster and ensures adequate safety training for all field personnel.
  • Manages all required safety documentation (rosters, certifications, etc.).
  • Performs any other duties assigned.
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
Required Experience and Education:
  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • 1+ years’ experience in a previous Safety role.
Preferred Experience and Education:
  • Associate’s degree in Safety related field.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • AED/CPR/First Aid training/certifications.
  • Safety certifications (ASP, CSP, OHST, CHST, CUSP, etc.).
Skills:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Basic understanding of safety regulations and compliance.
