We are seeking experienced EPC Estimators to join our team, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects. The EPC Estimator will analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to develop comprehensive cost projections, ensuring alignment with budgets, timelines, and client expectations. This role requires strong analytical skills and collaboration with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to deliver reliable estimates that support successful project execution.
Duties
- Review project plans, drawings, specifications, and scope documents to understand project requirements and deliverables.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for all phases of EPC projects, including engineering design, equipment procurement, materials, labor, and construction activities.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for materials, equipment, and subcontractor services based on market rates and historical data.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and procurement teams to validate technical assumptions and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Analyze vendor quotes, subcontractor bids, and supply chain data to ensure cost accuracy and competitiveness.
- Account for project risks, contingencies, escalation factors, and indirect costs (e.g., overhead, insurance, permits) in estimates.
- Utilize estimating software (e.g., Timberline, CostX, or Excel) to build and refine cost models.
- Present cost estimates to internal stakeholders and clients, providing clear breakdowns and justifications for proposed budgets.
- Update estimates as project designs evolve or new information becomes available during the bidding or pre-construction phases.
- Maintain a database of historical cost data, unit rates, and benchmarks to improve future estimating accuracy.
- Support bid preparation, including cost narratives, schedules, and risk assessments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field experience (or equivalent experience).
- 5-10 years of experience in cost estimating, preferably within EPC projects in industries such as power generation, oil & gas, or technology infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment relevant to EPC projects.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Aspen, InEight, Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Familiarity with project delivery methods (e.g., lump sum, cost-plus, design-build) and contract types.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple estimates concurrently under tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills for negotiating with vendors and presenting estimates to stakeholders.
- Certification in cost estimating (e.g., AACE Certified Cost Professional, RICS) is a plus.
- Experience with EPC projects in power generation (e.g., thermal, renewable, or transmission systems).
- Understanding of supply chain logistics and market trends affecting material and labor costs.
- Prior experience in a field construction or engineering role for practical cost insight.
- Primarily office-based with occasional site visits to gather data or validate assumptions.
- Fast-paced environment requiring adaptability to changing project scopes and timelines.
