POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Structural Engineer will provide the detailed design of structural components of high voltage substation projects. This role involves interacting with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, designers and support staff to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, with extensive experience in performing the detailed design associated with the structural aspects of high voltage substation projects and depth of knowledge in steel and concrete design.

What You’ll Do:
- Work with the project team on all structural project deliverables from inception to completion, including planning, design, permitting, construction support, and closeout.
- Produce the engineering designs, specifications, and plans for the structural components of high voltage electrical substation projects.
- Develop steel and foundation designs, including calculation and drawings.
- Work within project budgets and ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Comply with applicable industry, client, governmental regulations and standards.
- Execute quality control procedures.
- Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, and records.
- Ensure project team applies engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI
- Other duties as required
Required Experience and Education
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the electric utility industry performing structural duties.
- Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- P.E. or S.E. license or the ability to obtain within one year of hire.
- Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Strong technical knowledge of steel and concrete design, with a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and practices.
- Experience reviewing and coordinating steel shop and fabrication drawings.
- Knowledge and understanding of substation components
- Knowledge of process and procedures for project controls and estimates.
- Demonstrated experience supporting external customers.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
- Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, including ANSI, ASTM, ACI, AISC, IBC, NESC, and others.
- Able to deal with ambiguity and ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and determine priorities in a complex environment.
- Role will require travel as necessary to achieve job responsibilities, up to 10% of the time.
