PRIMARY FUNCTION

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager of Construction to oversee and lead all aspects of our construction projects. This leadership role requires strong management skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to deliver high-quality results while maintaining efficiency and safety standards. The General Manager of Construction will be responsible for the strategic direction, execution, and successful completion of construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills and have a proven track record of managing large-scale construction operations.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee the daily operations of the construction department, providing leadership to site supervisors and construction management teams.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work culture.
  • Manage multiple construction projects simultaneously, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Establishing project timelines, resource allocation, and coordinating all activities related to the projects.
  • Develop and manage budgets for construction projects, ensuring proper cost control, tracking expenses, and adjusting strategies as needed to keep the project within financial targets.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the construction team, ensuring ongoing professional development, safety training, and adherence to industry best practices.
  • Function as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure regular communication and timely updates on project status, risks, and resolutions.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety on all job sites and conduct regular safety audits.
  • Manage labor necessary for the successful completion of projects.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Identify potential risks on projects and take proactive measures to address them.
  • Resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise on the construction site to ensure minimal disruption.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure the final deliverables meet the company’s standards and exceed client expectations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting on project progress, budget status, and any challenges faced. Maintain comprehensive project documentation for record-keeping and compliance.
  • Performs any other duties assigned.
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
Position Reports to: Director of Operations

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management is preferred.
  • Relevant career experience in the construction industry and exposure to EPC projects is required.
  • 20 - 25 years of construction experience with a history of successfully managing large complex projects.
  • Strong technical background in the installation and operation of industrial facilities and associated subsystems. 
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, contract management, and construction safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets, schedules, estimating, and resources effectively.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to manage high-pressure situations.
