Assistant Project Manager (Albany, NY)

The Assistant Project Manager I (APM I) plays a vital role in supporting the execution of large-scale electric Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects within an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) framework. Working under the guidance of seasoned Project Managers, the APM I gains hands-on exposure to complex utility infrastructure projects that power communities and modernize the grid.

This position is ideal for an early-career professional who is eager to deepen their knowledge of high-voltage substation, transmission line, and power delivery project execution. The role is both strategic and tactical—designed to build capability in the full EPC lifecycle while contributing to real-time project performance in the field and office.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers across all phases of electric transmission & distribution (T&D) project delivery - planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout.
• Collaborate with engineering, estimating, procurement, and field teams to align scope, schedule, and budget.
• Assist with schedule development and updates using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
• Contribute to contract preparation, vendor onboarding, and subcontractor coordination.
• Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and logs.
• Participate in constructability reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering sessions.
• Support field teams by monitoring progress and resolving schedule or logistics issues.
• Assist with implementation of safety and quality protocols on job sites.
• Help prepare project updates, financial reports, and client presentations.
• Serve as Acting Project Manager when assigned to support professional growth.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field—or equivalent combination of education and field experience.

Technical & Professional Skills

• Solid foundation in construction principles, project workflows, and engineering documentation.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, scopes, and construction contracts.
• Working knowledge of MS Office; experience with project scheduling tools (P6, MS Project) and document control platforms a plus.
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities across teams and timelines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working in multidisciplinary environments.
